Acadia Federal Credit Union named Presenting Partner for YOTA 2026

AWWF is excited to announce a major milestone for our flagship educational program. Acadia Federal Credit Union has officially signed on as the Presenting Partner for the 2026 Youth on the Allagash program expansion. This partnership represents a shared vision for the St. John Valley, focusing on the empowerment of local students and the preservation of Maine’s most iconic wilderness waterway.

For years, the YOTA program has sought to bridge the gap between local communities and the wild river in their own backyard. By taking entire classes of students on guided expeditions, the program fosters a deep-seated sense of stewardship and pride. With Acadia Federal Credit Union as the lead sponsor, the AWWF is better equipped than ever to provide these life-changing opportunities, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of a student’s right to experience the Allagash.

“Acadia Federal Credit Union is an ideal business partner to work with in the St. John Valley,” said Dan Dinsmore, Executive Director of the AWWF. “AFCU’s roots in the community run deep, and they understand that investing in our youth is the best way to ensure a vibrant future for the region. We hope this program matches Acadia’s longstanding commitment to the Valley, and we couldn’t be happier with the support.”

The impact of this partnership will be felt long after the canoes are put away for the season. For many students, the YOTA trip is their first true introduction to the Allagash, sparking interests in conservation, recreation and local history that can last a lifetime. By supporting this journey, Acadia Federal Credit Union is helping to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will one day be the caretakers of the North Woods.

The AWWF extends its deepest gratitude to the team at Acadia Federal Credit Union for their leadership and generosity. Together, we are ensuring that the spirit of the Allagash continues to flow through the lives of the young people who call this region home.
