Welcoming a New President

Dear Friends,

President, Don Hudson presents a Shaw & Tenney Allagash Paddle to past president Bob McIntosh

At our Annual Meeting in June, Don Hudson was elected President of the AWWF. As many of you know Don is a known entity in the north woods. Along with Don Nicoll, he was a founding member of the AWWF and in fact, he is the only person to have scored a north woods “hat trick plus one.” He has been a past board member of Friends of Baxter State Park and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail and is a current member of the Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation.  Please join me in wishing Don the very best of success in this new role.

Since its inception, the AWWF, with a volunteer board and the essential help of a part time coordinator, has worked diligently to make lasting contributions to the Waterway. Our most notable achievements have been publishing Storied Lands and Waters (2018) and Allagash Explorer (2020)and the Youth on the Allagash and the Natural Resource Inventory, Ecological Assessment and Long-Term Monitoring initiatives. And we are pleased to note that the first comprehensive “Ecological Assessment” of the Waterway will be published later this year.

It has been a privilege and honor to serve as President of the AWWF and I plan to continue on and help in any way I can.

Thank all of you for your sustained support and your many, many contributions to our treasury and most valuable time.

Bob McIntosh, Former Board President
