We are hiring an Executive Director!

The Board of Directors of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the job of Executive Director. The AWWF was established in October 2011.

The AWWF works collaboratively with the staff of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway to support and add a margin of excellence to the management of the Waterway. AWWF launched Youth on the Allagash in 2013, and since 2015 has undertaken two major assessments of Waterway resources. Storied Lands and Waters (2018) is an assessment of historic and cultural resources and includes plans for implementation and education. A River in Space and Time (2023) is an assessment of the natural heritage (ecological communities, plant and animal species, and an in-depth analysis of coldwater fisheries habitat) of the Allagash with recommendations on ways to maintain the ecological health of the Waterway. Collaborations with Wabanaki communities are ongoing.

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and assess staff and
contractor needs, as well as budget and fundraising needs and actions.
